As I have done for the past seven years, I share my favorite photos of the year. I would like to give a big shout out to Jim Goldstein’s blog project hosting a listing of his & other photographer’s best photos of the year blog posts.
Twenty nineteen was an interesting year, as I mentioned in my post, 2019 Year In Review and Looking Ahead. Basically, my husband and I came off the road after living and traveling in an RV for four years. So this past year was a year of settling in and adjusting to home life apart from the RV. Because of that, I feel I didn’t photograph as much as I have in the past. I didn’t even have enough photos to do my annual calendar. Despite all of it, I did have an amazing year, and I did get a few photos I liked. I am definitely looking forward to getting out and shooting more this year.
I want to wish everyone a healthy & prosperous Happy New Year!
Below is a listing of my favorite photos by the month they were taken:
JANUARY
My husband and I started out the new year staying in Arizona near the KOFA Mountains. I really loved the views that were seen right from the RV.

MAY
In May I lead a private tour along the Oregon Coast. Shore Acres State Park’s botanical gardens were ablaze with color.

Photographing waterfalls in the Oregon Coast Range were part of the private tour.
AUGUST
In August, I visited the Rainier National Park with my good friends, Patricia Thomas and Dene’ Miles to photograph the wildflowers. We were so happy to have such good light while we were there. I think we all came home with some keepers.
OCTOBER
October was a very busy month for me so I didn’t get a chance to photograph fall color much at all. I was as an instructor at the Out of Oregon Conference and I flew to New York for the PhotoPlus Conference. I did manage to get over to the Japanese Garden in Portland, Oregon for some photography.
I hope you are all settled into your new home. I am sure it has been a big shift from your time in the RV. I really enjoyed this collection of photos, especially the photos from Mount Rainier (what magical conditions!) and the garden at Shore Acres. I hope 2020 is off to a good start for you!
Thank you so much Sarah! Yes, it’s taken a little longer than I hoped to get settled. I’m looking forward to making lost outdoor time now ;)
Sounds like you had a very busy transitional year. It’s good see that despite that you were able to get out and create some beautiful photographs. I love the light and atmopshere from your Mt. Rainier images. They have that soft almost ethereal feel. Have a great 2020, Patricia!
Thanks so much Todd for your kind words! All the best to you and your photography this year!
This is a lovely collection, Patricia! The Mount Rainier images are standouts for me. Wishing you all the best in 2020!
Thank you so much Russ! Happy New Year to you!
