Tonight is the “Convergence” Art Reception I am involved in. The reception is from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Pacific Park Gallery, 1957 Thompson Rd., Coos Bay.
My photography is on display in the Mezzanine gallery upstairs. Also view the work of the ten local artists participating. These artists are, SL Donaldson, Carolyn Le Grand, Susan Lehman, Mike Ousley, Wendy Ralston-Burger, Ava Richey, Sarita Southgate, Melanie Schwartz, Pat Snyder, and Victoria Tierney.
If you don’t get a chance to come tonight, you can stop by anytime during regular business hours to see the work at the gallery until the end of October.
I was asked several months ago if a group of artists could use my “Lower Kentucky Falls” image as inspiration for this project. Basically, ten artists were given a piece of my image to paint a section on a large panel. The artists weren’t shown the whole image. All the pieces were then put together to form the “Convergence”.
The large paneled painting is 10 ft. by 6 ft. and is quite impressive. You must see this amazing piece! Each artist did their painting with their own style and interpretation. According to Janne LaValle, “The resulting work is a study in how different artists interpret a subject and how those styles can come together to present one interesting piece. Viewers are able to see different painting methods and genres, such as colorist, naturalist, representational, abstraction, and expressionist. Media include collage, watercolor, acrylic and oil. “
