For years my husband and I have had some kind of RV. Our first one was a Thor T@B teardrop trailer. We had that for about 6 years. Then we decided to travel and live on the road full-time so we sold the T@B and purchased a used 32′ motorhome because it would be more comfortable living . We had it for about seven years.
After we got off the road and sold the motorhome we planned to pick up a used van and convert it to a camper. The economy shifted and used vehicles were and are still ridiculously priced. So for the time being, we decided to convert our 2005 Honda CRV to a camper by building a bed platform with storage underneath so that we could car camp.
I don’t know how long we’ll use it as a camper but for now it’s working pretty good. As a landscape photographer, I can take the vehicle myself and go on photo trips. It sure beats spending a bunch of money on motels. Many of my photo friends car camp as it just makes sense cost-wise for them.
I created a video on YouTube of the process of the build with the help of my father-in-law who was well into his mid 80s! We sure appreciate his expertise as he loves woodworking projects. If you enjoy the video, please consider leaving a thumbs up!
